Planting & Care
Planting Instructions: The Dwarf Dogwood "Poncho" is so easy to plant and care for. Be sure to find an open space in your yard with 8ft of spacing. If you don't have a lot of room, plant this tree in partial shade to improve its performance. Plant in well-drained soil with mulch or leaves on top of the roots and base of the tree. Try to avoid placing in a space that gets a lot of reflected heat and light. It is very heat tolerant, but you'll want to give it some shade if you live in zone 9.
Watering: There's no need to water your dogwood unless you are going through a period of drought. Make sure your soil is well drained and don't overwater your Poncho.
Fertilization: There's no need to fertilize the Poncho. It will grow 4-8 inches per year on its own.
Pruning: There's no need to prune the Poncho. You can allow your Poncho to branch towards the ground and take on an elegant silhouette or you can trim the lower branches for a walkway or to show off the bark. The Dwarf Dogwood Poncho looks magnificent when it is lit at night on a walkway.
Pests: The Dwarf Dogwood Poncho is very disease resistant. If you see Aphids, you can spray them with a steady stream of water to get rid of them.
