Tropical Blooms, Spring to Fall

Why Red Cestrum Plants?
Get the exotic good looks of a tropical locale in your own backyard. With our Red Cestrum Plant, you’ll have showy clusters of crimson blooms from spring through fall.

And it’s got eye-catching good looks that last even longer. The Red Cestrum’s blooms are followed by red-purple ornamental berries. Plus, its foliage is semi-evergreen, so the Cestrum is ideal for hedging, specimen planting or even showing off as a container plant, especially since it’s virtually carefree and fast-growing. Your unique Red Cestrum will be the center of attention in your garden for its long-lasting, vibrant growth, no matter where it's planted.

Planting & Care

1. Planting: Start by finding an area with full sun (6 to 8 hours of sunlight) and well-drained soil or select a container with drainage holes for planting.

Once you’ve selected a location (or planted in your container, which should be twice the size of the shipped container), dig a hole that’s around twice the size of your plant’s root ball and just as deep, with a bit of extra room to grow. Then, place the Cestrum, tamp down the soil and water to settle the roots.

2. Watering: Generally, you should check your soil about 2 to 3 inches down for dryness. If the soil is dry here, water the plant. Watering about once or twice weekly is a good rule of thumb, at least until your Cestrum is established.

3. Fertilizing: Feed your Red Cestrum with a general-purpose fertilizer before new growth begins in the spring.

4. Pruning: Prune your Red Cestrum in the fall, after flowers have faded.
